Prerequisites – Are You Ready?
To ensure a positive learning experience, participants should have a basic working knowledge of cattle reproduction, such as:
- Experience breeding cattle
- Completion of an AI course
- Ability to manually palpate a cow and locate the cervix
- If you have these skills, you’re ready to build your ultrasound expertise.

- Perform systematic reproductive ultrasound exams in dairy cows
- Identify open uterus, uterine health concerns, and infections
- Evaluate ovaries (corpus luteum, cysts, follicular structures)
- Determine and stage pregnancies by gestational age
- Determine fetal viability
- Identify twins
- Recognize common fetal anomalies and fetal demise
- Optimize machine settings on any make or model for clearer images
